Welcome to Madrid ... at your Feet!

The city of Madrid is currently a large, cosmopolitan and pulsing capital that attracts visitors and new residents from all over the world ... But Madrid deeps its cultural and historical roots back in time and, over the centuries, this landlocked city learned to preserve its castizo traditional flavour from when it was a village, and mix it up into a delicious cocktail along with a dose of regal character, the sparkling lightness of the spirits and plenty of notes of bon-vivant attitude. Madrid is a paradigm for reinvention, and still catches locals and visitors showing up its superb heritage hand in hand with a daring sense of modernity.

The Madrileños, today like yesterday, belong to any other place and also to Madrid; they enrich this vibrant city with their talent and diversity. After all this time, Madrid remains as it has always been, a destination, a chance, a beginning and an end, where everyone has their place... And now it is welcoming you!

"Madrid, Madrid, ¡qué bien tu nombre suena
rompeolas de todas las Españas!
La tierra se desgarra, el cielo truena,
tú sonríes con plomo en las entrañas."

Antonio Machado, November 7th, 1936.

Hello!

My name is Áurea, an archaeologist, historian and interpreter of heritage from Madrid, who has always been passionate about experiencing culture in all its different nuances. During the last two decades, I have participated in many projects related to historical, archaeological and cultural heritage, both in Spain and abroad. I lived for several seasons in the Middle East, and I also settled for a time in the United Kingdom where I completed my Master in Archeology of Death and Memory. I learned other languages ā€‹ā€‹and customs, met other people, saw other landscapes and I decided to go back to my first passion, Madrid. Currently, it is easy to find me walking through its narrow streets in search of new corners to discover, or simply enjoying in the small taverns, sharing with locals and visitors an intimate and close view of the history and cultural heritage of Madrid.
